HEALTHY HOLIDAY FIT TIPS

It's THAT time of year!! The Holidays are upon us and there are cookies, pastries, frosted goodies and creamy temptations EVERYWHERE!! HOW do we possibly stay on track amidst all of this??

I used to say -- "Well, it's ONLY a few weeks....the workouts can wait and I'll just indulge now and work it off later".....OMG -- that ONLY made things worse and made my pants SNUG and made me feel lethargic, moody, I would have headaches and my skin would break out! Y U C K!! NO THANKS!! SO NOW -- I indulge a bit....BUT I also workout consistently as well as eat as clean as I can!! I feel SO MUCH better, I don't GAIN extra weight and actually have ENERGY to keep up with my two littles!! WINNING if you ask me!

So here are some of my Holiday Fit Tips to help you avoid the extra weight gain and energy dip! Just stay focused on your GOALS and take these into account and you will be GOOD TO GO!! INDULGE a little and enjoy the Holidays with family and friends....WITHOUT the extra "fluff" :)

1.) DRINK WATER

Staying hydrated will help keep you FULL, it will flush toxins out and will help you to not cave into the sugary goodies that are forever calling your name!

Aim to drink at least half of your body weight in ounces each day! Add some lemon to detoxify or cucumber slices to keep it fresh!

2.) DON'T SKIP YOUR WORKOUTS

Your workouts are SO important!! They help to give you lasting ENERGY, burn calories and fat while building muscle!! Muscle is the fountain of youth and helps our metabolism's stay on FIRE! All you need, is 30 minutes -- that's it!! ...and you are WORTH it!

3.) LIMIT ALCOHOL

Try drinking a glass of water after each alcoholic beverage! Alcohol slows down our metabolisms and our fat burning -- as well as lowers our inhibitions! We are MORE likely to grab the Snickerdoodles if we are also indulging in some vino.....

4.) EAT THE VEGGIES

When you are out at a cocktail party, attending a family gathering or feasting on the Holiday appetizers...GRAB THE VEGGIES first! They are nourishing, they will satisfy you and they will also help you to eat LESS of the other junk!

5.) LIMIT SUGARS

TRY your very best to LIMIT the excess sugary foods and treats! Sugar feeds fat cells, has no nutrient value and leaves you craving MORE of it! It also leaves you feeling lethargic and crappy -- so limit the sugars!! haha

6.) EAT SOMETHING BEFORE ATTENDING PARTIES

Before you leave to go to that Holiday dinner or party where you KNOW there will temptations that are not so healthy - snack on something beforehand! Grab some nuts and veggies, or have an apple with peanut butter, or a Shakeology! All of these will keep you at bay, nourished and less likely to devour the table once you get there!

7.) PARK FAR AWAY

When you are running into the mall or shopping for those gifts, try to park far enough away so you can WALK and get in those extra steps for the day! So many of us are sedentary most of the day, and even if you aren't, those extra steps add up!!

8.) TAKE THE STAIRS

When you have the option to -- TAKE THE STAIRS....more added steps to you day!!

9.) HAVE A PLAN

NEVER leave your health to chance....always have a plan and have SOMETHING to help you stay accountable, stay on track and know how you will have control of your day! Set goals, write them out DAILY and take ACTION towards them each and every day!

I hope these Holiday tips helped you!! ...and of COURSE -- ENJOY  the Holidays and  the time you have to spend with family and friends!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
